Created by Aspik & coming to us from the Land of vodka and perestroika, Comatose is a puzzling puzzle game filled with blood and drugs. Will you get the pills in time? where the F is the key to the next door? why oh why is that window's handle missing? All of these and more grating questions will nag at you as you try to get out of a series of rooms in a building, while bleeding to death. The imminent threat of death adds quite a bit of tension to the proceedings from the get-go, and really pushes the player into the action.

Featuring little to no combat, this is a fairly competent little "semi-episode", with clever reuse of existing assets from various Valve games, pretty mapping, well suited licensed music, and a few interesting puzzle ideas. Still, a few points hold this back from being an instant classic: It's very short, if you have half a brain to stand on, you'll breeze through in half an hour, including 10 minutes of non-interactive cutscenes, still pictures and credits. Furthermore, the environments, while well constructed, could have used more variety than a series of simple rooms, and last but not least, the horrible engrish translation breaks the game immersion quite dramatically.

Still, if you have a bit of time to kill and feel like scratching your head a bit, this is quite worth the download. Let's hope the next episode improves on the formula!

It started amazing with you being hard pressed to heal yourself and the things you have to do for it, but quickly devolves into find the key. Also for something that feels like it will bring some story it feels lacking and the time spend on the credits would have been better spend on the overall length.

Yes, the Engrish translation is horrible...

I'll probably check this out actually. Reminds me of the weird puzzle games like the Veridian rom.

So which one is it; little, or no combat?

Well I didn't want to spoil it, but at one point you can choose whether to fight or not. But even if you fight, it's a single short firefight.
