Hi, I'm new here and nees help with Steam. I had to wipe my computer....back before I had an external HD (now have a WD 2TB ;D). I downloaded Dawn of War 2 to Steam (I own the actual DVD copy....not a Steam digital DL) It's the Gold edition, got it from Best Buy. Anyway, my CD Key is already registered and I have no evidence of it being on my computer and Steam doesn't show it ever being DL'd, but it keeps giving me that darn "CD Key already registered" error. Someone told me to install it while logged into Steam......and I did, but it's actually Steam that's giving me the error. Anyone know what to do? Need help!!!!

Ouch, that sucks. Well, welcome to the site at any rate.

Did you enter your key through the bottom left in steam, through the "add game > activate a product with Steam" menu?

What I believe happened is that some dirty pirate got your key from a key generator, and registered it. Since you have a real, physical copy, and maybe even a purchase receipt, I suggest you take a picture of the disc, the key and the receipt (provided you have one) and send them in a support ticket to either valve or THQ.

Steam support ticket. Also, did you register the key with Steam or what? Should mean that that game is tied to your account and should be visible in your account info (there's a link somewhere in Steam store I believe).
