Arma is definitely not for everyone, if you're not willing to sink dozens of hours into learning the ropes and very very slow gameplay, you're going to hate it. Zombies or no zombies.

The tutorials did get better in operation arrowhead, but they still just cover the tip of the iceberg.

I really admire the arma series for being a realistic milsim (I used to play operation flashpoint a lot back in the day) and will prolly buy arma 3 since it looks pretty sweet. While you can fire weapons underwater, the bullet will not travel very far and likely won't have enough force to be lethal by the time it gets to it's target.

It seems like a game I would love but, I don't think I had the patience it took to do things. Operation Flashpoint wasn't very user friendly either from what I remember.

I'm hoping they do a lot of work on the UI and easing the learning curve so more people can get into it. Although I hope they don't make the learning curve so easy that the COD types start running amok.

It's one thing to make a super-realistic game and another to make it so realistic that it's frustrating. Turning every single movement of your soldier into a different command like a clunky human-flight simulator is such a turn off for me.

New almost 17 minute long video of their E3 showcase. It covers diving, submersibles, helicopters, vehicles, IR, lighting, infantry, fluidity, accessibility/playability, and enhancing controls. I can't wait for this game! It was running on an i7 with one GT580 (or something) and ran really well, so hopefully it's better optimised than previous entries in the series.

Sweet!

I like the new inventory screen. It looks a lot more useful than the last one.

So we know that arma 3 is set in greece...two of the game's developers were just arrested in greece for spying on military installations.

The Greek island of Lemnos setting was announced awhile ago. That's hilarious they got arrested for spying though. Hopefully they're released soon.

Ah, I didn't realise my wording was confusing.
I knew the location had been announced a while ago, this was just to put the arrests in context for people who'd forgotten about it.

There's been an update on the Arma 3 Alpha and a new Arma 3 website was released a few days ago. The Arma 3 alpha will be available on March 5th 2013. You can check out the website here, www.arma3.com. Also the island within the game called Limnos was renamed to "Altis".

Here's some new screenshots:

A few days ago, I said "Arma 3 for 30 USD? I'd pay twice that!"
Now I have to eat my words and actaully pay the 70 euros they ask for the ultra-mega-deluxe-edition. And you know what, it feels good. Bohemia deserves the lovin'.

Tuesday cannot come fast enough.

EDIT: Old replies, yikes.

That turned out to be very very far removed from "hilarious" in the end. Good thing they're finally free.
