I'm pretty sure her experience could help others with missing limbs see life in a new way.

But yes, she's an exeptionally fortunate individual.

thats true, she is exceptional, but I dont see why she chose to use her sexuality as a means to help others, she has more than enough talent to achieve her goals through other methods

i never said she abused it, i dont even know how you could abuse that at all, I said she shouldn't have used her sex appeal as a means to convey her message since it can distort her message.

Why shouldn't she use her sex appeal? Some people's assumptions/views of amputees/disabled are that they're inferior/ugly/freaks. She's showing that they can be beautiful and elegant. I don't think she's sending the wrong message at all.

I think she is, she is doing the right by changing our perspective on people who lost their limbs, what I object is that she is now creating an expectation that people who are amputee should use their sexuality as a strong mechanism to rewrite other people's perception of them.

Would she be willing for the photo shoots if she was fat/ugly, was on a wheelchair instead of long legs, would she even be shown at a model run way? I believe not...

No but it's no different from beautiful people getting treated better than ugly people who aren't disabled.

so you have justified double standards between people, regardless of their disabilities.

Transhumanism is just a term to describe a new chapter in the human evolution.

Like I said before Transhumanism is an offshoot of humanism. It's a philosophy regarding the technologies which could create trans-humans.

I don't think that's what she was going for in that talk.
Her point seem to be that despite her obviously being a beautiful woman, her disability made a lot of people expect differently. It's about perception towards disabled people and the reality that with todays advancements and variety someone who has to use a prosthetic can actual use that to her/his advantage.

I wasn't sure in which thread to post this, but I think it has more to do with transhumanism than the actual game:

RockPaperShotgun talks about transhumanism with Deus Ex: Human revolution as a template, and how its ethical dilemmas may already be translatable to the real world, albeit on a much smaller scale.

(cryptic spoilers about the game start after the 4th image in the article, the one Jensen slapping people aroud with his mouth open)

I doubt we will see volunteered augmentation go mainstream in our life stream. As replacement limbs and body parts that are lost or damaged sure, we already have functioning cybernetic arms and hands. I imagine if it ever does get to the point where augmentations provide people with physical or mental advantages, it would become insanely regulated or simply not even be made available for civilian use.

Sleeping Mind what the **** was that second vid? I feel sad for even scrolling through it.

The first one brings light to the darkest reaches of my cold machine heart, though.
