I just beat Resistance 3.
The Bad:
- Move controls are good for the most part, but aiming with iron sights is a pain. To quote an amazon review:
Quote
Aim Down Sight is not like the aiming from hip. When aiming from hip you literally point the sharpshooter where you want to shoot and it'll shoot at that spot which is great. When you try to zoom (Aim Down Sight) and fire, the sharpshooter works more like an Air-Mouse that has absolutely no 1:1 relation. You have to control the rate at which the cross-hairs move by moving your Sharpshooter away from center. That is, you could be aiming at the corner of the screen while the cross-hair turns, wait for it to center on your target, point the sharpshooter back to the center of the screen and fire.
- A few sections early on in the game are pretty poor. One of them has you following some guy to a house while you carry an object that doesn't allow you to fire any weapons. This entire section is one 5 minute long scripted event where you follow the AI. A couple of areas (thankfully very few) have you waiting for NPCs to finish their speeches before they open a door allowing you to continue playing.
- Music is largely forgettable.
- Multiplayer is bad and unbalanced. If you're level 50 you'll destroy new players due to all the perks you have unlocked.
The Good:
- Health doesn't regenerate in any way, which makes certain firefights very tense. Like the areas with snipers and rocket launcher enemies, you have to play carefully because you can't just shrug off damage.
- Being able to carry all weapons in the game (11) is great and all of them have their pros, cons and alternate firing modes. I used them all equally.
- The environments in the game are varied and have their own self-contained storyline. The first act of the game introduces you to the game world. The second act is killing enemies in a destroyed city and sometimes fighting alongside a handful of rebels. The third act
The third act
The fifth act is reminiscent of
- The enemy variety is very good.
- Story is decent and the ending provides a very good conclusion to the series.
- Earning trophies to buy cheats/concept art like in Uncharted is a pretty good system.
It's as good as the first and thankfully nothing like the second which was utter shit.
One of the better FPS campaigns I've played this year alongside Bulletstorm and Crysis 2.
