So I just did something to my Wii to upgrade its power level to over a certain four digit number beginning with nine.
To test it, I'm playing some Goldeneye, and damn, I wasn't expecting much, and I'm pleasantly surprised. The game plays nicely with the wiimote, as well as an FPS can be played on that setup, so wildly inferior to a mouse ofc, but still competently.
Only played the dam level so far, and despite it taking quite a few liberties from the original N64 game (as I'm sure the subsequent levels will do even more so), it's a good ride.
Next up: punchout! for the lulz, and then on to srs bzness: Xenosaga gears blade 
To test it, I'm playing some Goldeneye, and damn, I wasn't expecting much, and I'm pleasantly surprised. The game plays nicely with the wiimote, as well as an FPS can be played on that setup, so wildly inferior to a mouse ofc, but still competently.

GoldenEye owns. I thought I'd hate it but I ended up loving it. Ignore GUI's opinion he is broken in the head.
Punch-Out!! also owns and has some of the best character animation of this gen. Xenoblade owns too.

What's the point in getting bad games though any kind of means?
Punch Out! is fun, 10-15 moneys DLC fun. It's the exact same game as on NES, sooo... well had I bought it I'd be rather pissed. A fun game, but so damn old.
Goldeneye is surprisingly not completely bad. But still...FPS on a console, meh.
I doubt I'll play any of these 3 for a long enough time to feel bad about pirating them. Xenoblade starts epic, with hellz yeah cutscenes, and then... what the shit... what is this shitty battle system? it's like if someone made a turn-based battle in real time. I was expecting at least Monster hunter levels of aweosme, this is just tedious and boring.

when you can stand around, not touching the controller while your character auto-attacks, and win a battle, yeah, it's a boring battle system.
Still, they must be something right, because I'm still playing it.
Epic backstory, check
creative background, check
nice RPG atmosphere, check
Feeling of belonging to a world, check
Goodish voice acting, check
Very good music, check
Nice graphics (except for the low res textures up close), check
lots and lots of buttons evrywhere, check
No waggle (yet), check
epic battle system, CHECKSUM ERROR
Overall, it seems xenoblade has everything a game needs...just one major flaw. Still, not the worst battle system ever, it just really breaks the immersion.
I guess I only have myself to blame. I hate turn-based RPG combat, and this is too much like it.
As for Punch out, hey I love plenty of 10 €/$ games, come on, you can't tell me xenoblade and punch out are on the same level of depth, complexity, value.
Just like Rock of ages and the witcher 2 aren't. Both are still good games.
Still, they must be something right, because I'm still playing it.

Haha, there's just no pointing out flaws or personal preferences for you fanboys 
Anyways, I'm loving Xenoblade, I love the silly intricacies and huge waste of time no RPG should be without (nono, no sarcam here), like the affinity chart, with little gems like the heart to heart moments.
I think I may just buy this game, it's got me hooked. Probably even the battles will get better as I forget the shock of getting an undewhelming anti-climax in the intro battles.

Heh, Xenoblade is goddamn good stuff...and bad stuff...like cocaine. Xenoblade's one hell of a drug.
I have no idea how I managed to squeeze 6 hours of play out of it already (lvl 15), but goddamn I love it.
I'm especially glad the combat has grown on me.
I admit, I was wrong., mea culpa. The combat is good, it just took me a few battles to get used to its concept. I'm getting a lot of Secret of Mana flashbacks, fields of green, fightingrabbites bunnits, kinda-sorta-real-time battling. I love it. Hooray for Xenoblade, best Wii game of the year, by far.

The suicides sucked. The meltdowns when Gamespot gave Twilight Princess 8.8 were incredible. This time they sucked. GAF was way too tame, I suspect because there were quite a few middling reviews to damper spirits, and because the Uncharted 3 review reactions set a warning of how nasty it can get.
