[Hardware issues] crap...

So, Yesterday I got a nice little package with a new tower, PSU, and cpu cooler. I can finally stop running my computer laid out on my desk, with a fan leaning on the ram and a cpu heatsink whose fan broke...

So I threw the HDs in, then had to go to work. Got home, Poured a Baltika 9 ( hey I blew last weeks disposable income on this stuff, and this weeks will be further blown on new parts. At least I'm not drinking steel...)

Well, install CPU cooler, put it all in the case, plug everything up and... nothing. no boot.

  • DOuble check PW switch pins - nothing
  • Try old PW switch - nothing
  • Switch to old PSU to see if it boots - nothing
  • Old PSU draws power when clicked on, can't tell about the new one, seems like it but I could be wrong.

Specs -

On the desk (old parts)

OCZ ModStream 550w
MSI 785GTM-E45
2 gigs G.Skill DDR2 800
XFX 5770
3 HDs, 300gb,400gb,1.5tb
Sata DVD
Zalman CNPS9700 NT with the broken fan torn off - hey it's passive now!
Desk with a box on it

New Parts

Corsair TX750M
Cooler Master Scout
Arctic Cooling Freezer 13

Any ideas? I'm about to go pull it all out and try running it on the desk with the new psu, then the old one if no dice. I'm starting to worry... I'll be ordering a new Mobo and ram tomorrow, but I would very much like to have a computer right now... also would like to reuse my old parts, but at this point I feel something might be quite wrong...
This doesn't sound like I killed the mobo or something does it? Maybe the new PSU was DOA?

Were you careful of static electricity when you put everything together? I hope you didn't fry something. For something not to boot up at all, with no lights or sounds, I'm thinking it's either a motherboard or psu issue. Make sure you check the wiring again just to be sure, it's usually the simplest thing.

You'd think with all the times I've messed with computers and never screwed anything up I wouldn't start now... heavily buzzed but still as careful as I normally am... I'll update after I try it out on my desk. I'm agreed that it seems like PSU or mobo, but what really worried me is when my old PSU pulled power and didn't do anything either..

Edit - Running on desk with new PSU. no problems. I just somehow really jacked up how I put it in the case... whew... That said, what the hell? I haven't used a case in quite a while, but last time I checked it's still just stand offs, screw it in and plug everything up... well I'm super relived, everything works great. I will try putting it all back in again. Hurray for being a semi competent drunk with computers! I didn't break anything, I just can't do things right...
