Mount and blade warband help cannot play online

Hi all
Recently I have tried to play mount and blade warband online. However I have ran into problems, everytime I try to join a game it will say validating serial number then, requesting to join game. After a few seconds the game will revert back to the multiplayer profile menu. I have registered my game online so I have no idea what the problem is. Any help would be fantastic.
