Can't use Wallet funds
#1 Posted 09 January 2012 - 07:57 PM
I hate to be a new poster and requesting help on my first post. But I'm at the end of my tether regarding Steam Customer support and hoping someone here can possibly help with my problem. If it's not fixed soon I'm seriously contemplating phoning my Card company to get the charge reversed which no doubt they'll scream about.
Basically - last month I pre-deposited 25 GBP into my steam wallet account for use as and when I wanted a game as I was feeling a bit flush that month so wanted to leave funds in my account just in case I see a game on offer.
During that time I've had to move house (only 6 miles away) on a short term basis. However when I now try to spend the funds in my wallet I get the following. (Pic attached)

I've had 4 e-mails from there support since the 26th December all saying I need to put the right details in from my Credit Card...but I clearly tell them I don't - as they already have my money.
I've even attached the picture and said - where do I do what you're saying to do there?
I've tried Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome, Tried doing my country of residence by proxy, different wireless networks, Nothing. Except a rising anger issue.
If any of you can help that would be awesome, but I've got a theory this is a Steam F' Up!
Many thanks
Lee

Also have a potential 800 pound garage bill coming up for the car! *not feeling so flush anymore!
Yeah I understand that, to me that seems the only way I can see you trying to fix it yourself though... if getting through to steam support is feeling like a brick wall I say get your bank involved in someway because it's not right that they can take your money and not let you use it.

I think you should make one last attempt at a reply that just says:

"There seems to have been an error initializing or updating your transaction. Please wait a minute and try again or contact support for assistance."
Now I don't want to add any more money to my Steam Wallet, I just want to be able to USE the money that's already in there.
Thanks in advance.
If they're still too dumb to understand that (or just aren't willing to understand), you should contact your bank.
On a side note, I would also be pretty pissed if this happened to me.

are steam funds location aware? That is, funds are only available from the country you put money into it. Essentially, you cannot use the funds because you have none in the Isle of Man (that is the most awesomest name for an island evar, that would be a great place to be, except for the saussage fest)
So, until you add more funds to your account while in IM, then you are SOL. Can you refund from your wallet to your account, then transport it back while on IM?

After I calmed down a little last night I did put a reply similar to the above - I've also managed to find a phone number with them and left a message on there credit card unknown transactions number. Although I know about the transaction I've told them I'll be doing a charge back as I'm having a problem that isn't being resolved. See what I get back...
I'll also be telling the bank to re-call the full £25 - I'll have my extra £2.99 back for the inconvenience. Bound to get there attention then...

All funds were added in the Isle of Man so unfortunately not applicable.

Even though I deposited pound sterling my account was defaulted to US as were the funds in the wallet (Don't know why)
Which made my purchasing from a UK store impossible.
They've amended the currency and now all is shiny - never putting money in the wallet again though!
Cheers for the advice in the meantime anyway!

Hooray! Shame had to take this long (and this many replies by you), but all is well that ends well.
