I love the level design in Half-Life games. I think that's what really makes it stand apart from other games in the genre. Can't believe it has been so long of the release of HL2. Not many amazing FPS games after that really. FPS genre needs more innovation! (Think gravity gun!)

Shampoo, i'm guessing the geforce 3 struggled with Half Life 2?

Yeah it did, around the time of Half-Life 2, I upgraded my pc, so the Geforce made place for a 9800pro. Much better, but still the stutters that Half-Life 2 had in the begin.
Ah, the good old times.

Half-Life has in my opinion the best, and certainly the most unique level design. Black Mesa is just a great designed place and has so much atmosphere. I hope those guys from Black Mesa Source will give it back to us in a more modern and better looking jacket.
Half-Life 2 also has some great level designs, but some indoor rooms in City 17 are too simple.

But alot of credits go to the sound designers at Valve, they make those levels come alive with all the sounds you hear in the background. Never a game that has done it better. :gordon:

I want more games like it and Far Cry 2 where you're placed in an open area with plenty of enemies and can approach it however you want. Rambo: The Game basically.

Far Cry 2 has somethings going for it in the free roam map, but really the instantly respawning and always shooting enemies made it a chore.
Mission: Go to the other end of the map be forced to kill most everyone on the way than kill the people at your goal, sometimes take something from them.

It's also something entirely different than what Half-Life is about.

Playing HL2 on anything other than hard (which should be renamed 'scrub') is blasphemy.

Eh, today's not about fighting the hard fight and being a hero, it's all about walking down the streets of City 17 like a pimp and enjoying the scenery.

Oh there's no innuendo on IRC. It's all up front.

Anyways, two hours 'till HL2 time, giggidy!

For anyone who's still not clear on when to start playing: http://www.messagetovalve.com

EDIT: Also I agree with Eat and think everyone should play on hard.. since that's not hard at all. :P
