Due to wide spread pirating of games on Steam, Valve has decided to introduce a new type of DRM to help game publishers. Starting next week all games have to have a HAT key inputted before you can play your games. All you will need to to is purchase a hat from the Valve store, wait 2 to 3 weeks for shipping and look for the HAT code that is located on the label inside the hat. Once the HAT code has been entered you can download the game as usual, one small change is that you will be required to turn on your webcam and Skype a Valve employee while playing your game, if you are not wearing your hat while playing you will have the game removed from your computer and your account will be VAC banned.

Gabe Newell has praised his team for thinking up such a ground breaking DRM method which is both simple and convenient for the user, other services such as Origin have already made a similar DRM method named CROTCH where you have to purchase underwear from EA and dance in it for a member of their staff and they will let you play the game if they decide your dancing is up to their standard.
