You will likely need to purchase GMod again, not like its that expensive given all the play time you can have with it.

You appear to be correct, and yes it is not expensive, even for a student with little spare money. However it is the principle behind it that bothers me because all my other games have transferred over without any issues or repurchase needed. Again as i stated it was not fault that i needed a new account, Microsoft blundered with my email address and so forth, and Steam wouldn't let me purchase or play any of my games without clicking a link from an email sent to my inaccessible email account. I couldn't change the email account linked ot my previous steam account because again this required confirmation from the original email address.
I just don't agree with the idea of having to re-buy a game that is already installed on my computer, i can access the files etc, but cannot start the game itself without making another purchase.

yeah, it sucks, its DRM, I think Valve made the least intrusive of all types, the downside is you gotta be careful with your email, most people it isnt a problem, but others get sol'd.

You should be able to change your email from your computer without getting into your old email account. I saw this update shortly after the last guy came here to complaint about a similar issues. If you can still log into your old Steam account go to Setting and look for change contact email.
