Thnx XJR. Rumors are that swarm are likely the boids from half-Life 1. It's possible EP3 is set in the combine overworld or even Xen, who knows.

Apparantly it was a real rough version of the citadel falling apart that was cut from HL2. I thought those creatures were Boids. I see the Stukabats were erased from the game

However there is much more of a HL connection here than simply the HUD
The map environment is the Xen indoor factory areas or based on that. The moment I saw it I had a mini flashback to one of those later HL1 levels with the grunt factories and the platforms... The wall and floor textures just fit. You can even observe the reduced gravity of Xen when the player jumps at 0:25s in the youtube video- just like in some of the Xen areas of HL1
