screen or inverter?

My friends Sony laptop (pcg-71318l VPCEB33FM) had what I believed to be a faulty backlight so I ordered a replacement LCD. The screen worked fine for a few days but now the backlight is out again. Do you think it could be the inverter or should I request a new screen?

just the backlight? or the whole screen?

if it happened to the backlight, could be faulty inverter

yea the back light went out a few days after replacing the screen which makes me believe that the inverter is somehow the cause. Someone mentioned that a faulty inverter will eventually kill the backlight which I think is what happened.
