Long rumored and much anticipated, The Elder Scrolls Online is finally being unveiled in the June issue of Game Informer. In this month's cover story we journey across the entire land of Tamriel, from Elsweyr to Skyrim and everywhere in between.

Developed by the team at Zenimax Online Studios, The Elder Scrolls Online merges the unmatched exploration of rich worlds that the franchise is known for with the scale and social aspects of a massively multiplayer online role-playing game. Players will discover an entirely new chapter of Elder Scrolls history in this ambitious world, set a millennium before the events of Skyrim as the daedric prince Molag Bal tries to pull all of Tamriel into his demonic realm.

Oh god, cant wait for this! Linky

This is one MMO I'm not going to miss out on. Honestly can't wait for this to arrive!

First screenshots. It looks pretty bland and generic compared to the MMOs which are already out there. It does not give me the "Elder Scrolls" feel that the other games give me. It will be built on the same engine as Star Wars: The Old Republic.

On the other hand this could be a major competitor for Guild Wars 2, the deciding factor will be if it has a monthly fee or not. Giving Guild Wars 2 a competitor could make it a much better game as well, which I am looking forward to.

What the hell are they thinking? They removed everything that makes TES worth playing and copy/pasted the names of some background characters into a WoW clone?...

All in all, seems disappointing to say the least.

I don't notice any difference between that, Oblivion and Skyrim since all Elder Scroll games' settings are as generic as they come.

Why does everything have to go online these days?

I'm betting it will be $18 a month.

Hmm, TES online. Something I have always dreamt about, but something that could easily ruin the whole TES experience. I'm withholding my judgement for now. Need more info. It does have the potential of becoming the next WoW for me :P. The Old Republic could've done the same, but I felt I didn't have the time to commit to that and the beta didn't excite me that much. Now that that's been out for a few months(?) wonder what's the general consensus on it? (Sorry off topic, but HLF is dead anyway).

Anyway, a new MMORPG game could be refreshing on this day of generic FPS games.

Well a new, generic MMORPG isn't really a breath of fresh air.
I'm going to optimistically assume that it'S bad communication on Bethesda/Zenimax's part, showing the game and flat-out saying stuff like "we don't want to make things too new, so WoW players can jump right in", generic 3rd person view, non-real-time combat.

I don't know what they'll try to do pricing-wise, but with the amount of F2P MMORPGs out there, and the already declining (from what I heard SWTOR) player population, it'd be murder for them to try and charge people a monthly fee.
