So from various news sites it seems all is not well at onlive with staff been booted out...

Anyone use onlive? I used it for a while when my ISP did a deal where you could play all the games for free for a few months and the bandwidth didn't add on to my usage... oh and I got FEAR 3 for £1... didn't play it much after the bandwidth deal stopped... and to be honest most times of day the quality was a bit crap.

you beat me to it city17!

I dont think the whole premise of remotely playing games is a failure, to the contrary, I think its the future. Having full featured games on low end devices by taking advantage of our ever increasing network infrastructure is a great idea. I guess the gaming population wasnt ready and maybe the technology was not there yet.

Why they would think that the massive layoffs would not impact the publics view of the company makes no sense. They essentially put a stake through themselves.

Apparantly the running costs were $5million a month.. I don't think they made that much money from people buying games off them.

Amazon, Ebay, Sirius/Xm, etc all had operational costs that put it in the red for several years. As long as your business grows, then investors are happy.

They layoffs are really meant to divert funds to pay top officers, make the quarter look good and get a nice bonus before they go screw everyone else by declaring bankruptcy

Apparenly, their assets have been bought, and everything is fine in the confusing land of capitalism.
