All kinds of cool and nebulous stuff is possible, but the end goal still seems to be entertainment.

Valve on Virtual reality

This being my own opinion, I figured I won't taint the newspost with it.
Personally, I don't give two shits about virtual reality, enhanced controllers, motion controls, etc.
And here's my main point explained beautifully: the uncanny valley in game controls.
Kinaesthetic projection is the magic word, people have no problem playing games with a controller or mouse/KB, because they project themselves onto that interface and eventually subconsciously forget it's there. This is accomplished thanks to the level of abstraction between a controller and actual actions.
But with virtual reality, or the kinect, is where it's too close to actual reality that it falls in the uncanny valley, and even as technology advances to make Virtual interfaces more and more realistic, every single small flaw will be blown out of proportions by our brains, forever stuck in the uncanny valley until we can actually "jack into the matrix".

Doom 4.
Love 3D. Love motion controls. Love exploring new ways to interact and engage with interactive environments. So I'm down, even if it's awful.

I think this would be amazing for horror games... slender is scary enough as it is, I bet it is a lot scarier with the goggles.
