C'mon, someone out there. Do it. You know you want to -- System Shock 2, remade with the Source engine. :phew :8 :devil

I heard while back someone was redoing System Shock 2 in a new engine (not cource though). I would be nice in source though. I'll try to find out who's redoing it. It was a newer engine (maybe the Unreal 2 engine). I'll look around.

Pc gamer (UK) reported that there was indeed a system shock 2 source mod in progress, however ea games have slapped a court notice on it due to breach of copyright, so unfortuantly unless ea suddenly decide to be really nice this aint gonna happen.

While I may not have the time or motivation to work on this project, I'd really, really like to see how one turns out. Especially with co-op hacker/marine play, or even SC:PT-style hacker vs marine matches, I'd be in love. SS2 is one of the best games of all time, and IMO hasn't been equalled or even approached in combining FPS and RPG gameplay. Plus, the atmosphere was great, and it's one of the few truly scary games ever produced. If that same feeling could be recaptured with new, high-quality graphics and sound, and ideally a new storyline...wow. I'd pay $50 for that. And if they want to dodge copyright issues, change a few names and call it Shocked or something similar; different enough to avoid lawsuits but similar enough that the title is still fairly obvious.

I don't want to see a remake, but perhaps a game inspired by the System Shock series would be refreshing.

DOOM III. Though it's a 4 hour game. LOL

EA killed the SS2 Remake using the...Unreal engine, methinks. Whatever engine those guys were using, EA got wind of their diabolical plan to make a great game better--for no profit--and squashed them like a bug. :devil

*ahem* Deus Ex.

I too utterly adore the FPS/RPG genre, as small as it is. Most of the titles made using this format have been wildly popular or atleast reached cult status, why are so few made? I have my own evil intentions for the Source engine, but if a game were my thing, I'd do something like DE.

Oh, and SS2 is also a really great game. If co-op was stable, I'd play it all the time.

Deus Ex: Source. :p

Warren Spector was absolutely amazed by Half-Life 2 at both E3 2003 and E3 2004.

Maybe he'll abandon that claustrophobic engine from DX2 and Thief3 and use Source. :D

Oh, I enjoyed DX2 and Thief3, but the map size of the levels were tiny compared to their predecessors. The engine used for those games are better suited for FPS's like Alien Vs. Predator.
